What is ZPoc?
ZPoc is a client using the Direct Connect protocol originally developed by NeoModus
that allows you to share files over the internet with other users. The
main source code was based on open source software developed by Jacek
Sieks.

Will there be a Linux or Mac version?
Maybe. The code is written with portability in mind, but uses the Windows API for
the graphical user interface. One fine day it may be ported to Linux or
Mac ... but right now,
we're aiming for a bit more stable Windows version. Until then, try
WINE (a Windows
emulator for Linux), or Virtual PC for the Mac (A windows emulator for
Mac)

How can I configure ZPoc to use proxy?
Currently, proxy connections are only supported for downloading the public
room lists. To use a HTTP proxy for this, enter the full proxy address
(http://my.proxy.com:8080) in the settings, under "HTTP Proxy". Connecting
to a room through a proxy is not supported.

How do I login as a room operator or registered user?
There are two ways to do this, but first you must have been registered
through ZPoc, as normal users do not need a login/password. One is to set your default nick under the General
tab in Settings, and then connect to the room. You will be prompted for your
password every time. The second way is to add the room to your favorites. You
can choose to login automatically by specifying a nick and password combination
for that room in your favorites. Note: this only works when connecting through the
favorites list; if you connect through the public room list, ZPoc always uses the
default nick and will prompt you for your password.

I can't Download or Upload What do I need to do? Enter your IP in the settings dialog
-
If you have a firewall, verify that incoming connections are allowed (or
forwarded) to the port specified in the settings dialog and enable TCP
and UDP traffic (if you can download files but cannot search, UDP packets
are still blocked)
- Use passive mode

How do I configure my firewall to run ZPoc in active mode?
First, check your ZPoc settings. Verify that your external IP number is set up in the
IP number field. Then check the port number that ZPoc is using (1412 or 412 by default).
You need to open this port to incoming traffic for both TCP and UDP data. If you're
using a real firewall (as opposed to a software one), you may also have to configure it
to relay incoming traffic on that port. For outgoing ports, you have to open all ports
(both TCP and UDP) for outgoing traffic, because when you connect to another user, that
person may have chosen any port for their incoming traffic. ZPoc also makes use of HTTP
to download room lists and version information, so this kind of traffic should be allowed
as well.Note: if you do not know your internal/external IP you can find that
info out by downloading IP2.
The External IP is the "WAN" or Wide Area Network. The
internal IP is the "LAN" or local area network

What is the search spy?
The search spy reveals the files that people search for and some other statistics.
The first column is the word they've search for (what they typed into the search
window) and the number of times this word has been searched for. The statistics
are reset every time you close the spy window. The status bar at the bottom also
shows the total number of searches while the spy was open and the average number
of searches per second.

I've been banned!
There are two types of bans: temporary and permanent. Temporary bans last for 5-10
minutes and can occur randomly for various reasons ranging from an unsuccessful
connection attempt (if the connection was broken while sending a command for
instance) to you being kicked from the room. The best thing you can do is close
the room window so that you don't waste resources on trying to connect, and then try
again in 15 minutes. The permanent bans are always entered manually or scripted
and they last until the permanent ban list is cleared or somebody removes you. It
means that your IP is not allowed to connect to that room any more. Most rooms have reasonable owners and operators that ban for
good reasons.

How do I resume a file?
When selecting a file for download, make sure that you select the already existing, partial
file as the download target. ZPoc will then automatically resume the file, after making
sure it's the same file by comparing the last few bytes of the present file with what
you're trying to download. There is currently no option to overwrite files, so your best
option is to either delete the file or select a different target location.
